Our Sunshine, Charlie, was born with a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). A hole in his heart. The hole is in between the two chambers. The hole is about 4 mm in diameter. Since Charlie was a baby, each year he visits a Paediatric Cardiologist in Saskatoon. Doctors were hopeful that this wee hole would close on it's own, however it hasn't. June 2nd, at his annual checkup, we learnt that it is causing damage and his heart is working hard. Time has come for the VSD to be repaired. Surgery is "now" scheduled for Wednesday, June 25 in Vancouver at the BC Children's Hospital.
Charlie truly brings life and joy to our family. He is a very active 9 year old and you would never know that he has a birth defect. We are praying that his surgery will be successful and that he will have a quick recovery; we are asking you to do the same.
