Charlie had a good night in ICU; he slept well and had little pain. He was moved up to the Children's Heart Unit later this morning, where he slept a lot but had pain. The pain meds are lessened, so things are a lot harder. Poor guy had a bad day, but in reality he had open heart surgery yesterday, what can you expect?! Tonight he sat up on the side of his bed and tomorrow there are plans for him to go for a walk. He said he just wants to go home and wishes this bad dream would end. We aren't posting any photos, but will tell you that he has a couple of new friends. First is "tree" (where all the medicine bags and monitors are attached) - they get along pretty good and then there is "Danny" (the drainage bag) - they are often in disagreement! He really hopes Danny will go away tomorrow. We prayed for a restful night and he is sleeping now. I am sleeping on what most people would consider to be a very uncomfortable cot, but to me it is like sleeping on a cloud cuz I'm here with my boy!
Hello everyone! Nancy Coates shared the blog site with me yesterday and I am glad to be able to connect with you. I have prayed many, many, many times. Pleased to hear of the progress and wonderful care. I know the staff will be falling in love with Charlie! I send a big but gentle hug for him too. Hope today brings more improvements. It can be amazing how quickly things advance - at least that is the case in adult heart surgery, and kids have much more reliance. Stay strong. Blessings -
